The 2025 Honda HR-V Sport AWD is a compact SUV featuring a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine (158 hp), a CVT automatic, and Real Time AWD.

As Honda’s smallest SUV, the HR-V was completely redesigned for 2023. It got bigger, more stylish, gained a nicer interior, and its driving dynamics took a big step forward. The HR-V went from quirkily functional to perky and desirable. It shares its platform with the Honda Civic, and hence shows a level of refinement and tidy handling in step with that competent compact sedan/hatch we like so much.

The 2025 Honda HR-V offers much of the practicality and satisfaction of the company’s popular CR-V, only in a smaller, subcompact-class package. It’s roomy inside, with a pleasant interior, plenty of storage cubbies, and the expected connectivity and driver-assistance features.

CAR & DRIVER:  The HR-V sports a modern interior design inspired by the Civic; it’s both classic and attractive. The front seats are comfortable and supportive while providing a wide range of adjustments. While it looks somewhat unadorned, the HR-V’s cabin is dotted with thoughtful touches and well-placed storage cubbies. Practicality is a big part of the HR-V’s appeal, and its cargo area proved large enough for seven carry-on suitcases in our testing; with the rear seats folded, we fit 22 suitcases behind the front row.

KBB:  The 2025 Honda HR-V is a standout in the subcompact SUV class, particularly because of its roomy and classy cabin. The HR-V has an edge over most subcompact SUVs — it’s built on the same foundation as the Civic, Honda’s class-leading compact car. The result is a spacious cabin and an overall refinement that some contenders might struggle to match. We’re also impressed by its top safety scores and Honda’s overall build quality.

We’ve found the HR-V drives with more sophistication than its price would suggest. It corners confidently, and there’s just a splash of sportiness aided by steering with satisfying heft and predictability. We’ve found the HR-V at its best when moving leisurely about the world. Outward vision is good; it’s as comfortable on the highway as anything in the class, while its tidy dimensions are ideal for getting around town and negotiating parking lots. Like the Honda Civic on which it’s based, the HR-V’s pervasive refinement makes it one of the most pleasurable vehicles in its class.
