What We Think (Motor Trend):
The Crown Signia is one of the more intriguing additions Toyota has made to its SUV range in recent years, much like the Crown sedan added a little upscale spice to the company’s familiar lineup. With its trendy and premium-looking exterior, the Signia seems a fitting successor to the also upscale-adjacent Venza. It’s a distinct presentation from the sedan, too, almost Lexus-like in its appearance.

The interior is more functional than fashionable, but the Limited offers soft-touch leathers, and it’s visually interesting. Plus, it’s easy to get in and out of, and forward visibility is good. Around town, the ride is compliant, and the cabin is quiet, as the Crown Signia eagerly accelerates from stops.

Safety Features:
As expected, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping with lane centering, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition. Not part of TSS 3.0 but also included are blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic monitoring. More advanced parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers are standard on the higher Limited trim level.

What’s the Interior Like?
Like the sedan, the Crown Signia is a two-row SUV designed to accommodate five occupants. The rear seating is a fold-flat 60/40 bench, which extends the load floor to 6.5 feet when stowed. Of course, the SUV offers way more cargo space than the four-door sedan. The cabin features include leather-trimmed seating and a panoramic sunroof. Rear passengers get standard air vents, two cup holders, a rear bottle holder, seatback pockets, and two USB ports. Toyota also prioritized interior quietness with acoustic glass on the front side windows, a dash silencer, and an engine cover made of sound-absorbing materials. It’s almost Lexus-like!

Value:
While the Crown Signia cabin doesn’t quite match the opulence of a Lexus, it’s not too far off, and we have no problem with that given this classy, sophisticated Toyota’s price. The Crown Signia boasts real utility, refined on-road manners, excellent fuel economy, and great looks. Thinking maybe you don’t want to purchase yet another crossover?
