Toyota’s midsize pickup is a dramatically better truck than before, in nearly every measure.

The Tacoma 4X4 TRD Off Road is the ideal truck for adventure seekers. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road kicks off the fourth-generation redesign. It features a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (278 hp / 317 lb-ft), Bilstein off-road shocks, an 8-speed automatic transmission, 17” wheels with 32” all-terrain tires, and a coil-spring rear suspension.

The TRD Off-Road utilizes a traditional, heavy-duty part-time 4WD system designed for maximum traction on loose surfaces: An electronically Controlled Transfer Case. A center-console dial allows you to shift on the fly between 2-High (2H) for fuel-efficient pavement driving and 4-High (4H) for snow, dirt, or mud.

• Crawl Control: Acts as a low-speed off-road cruise control. It automatically manages acceleration and braking so you can focus entirely on steering through tight, technical trails.
• Downhill Assist Control (DAC): Targets individual brakes to safely guide the truck down steep, slippery descents without locking up the tires.

Midsize trucks are naturally less susceptible to the jittery and unsettled ride that plagues so many full-size and heavy-duty pickups, and the Tacoma’s roadgoing refinement takes full advantage of this. For 2024, Tacoma is completely redesigned from the ground up. Built on the TNGA-F global truck platform shared with Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser, the all-new Tacoma was designed and engineered specifically for the North American market.
