There’s a little something for anybody looking for a comfortable and nicely equipped midsize sedan. The 2018 Ford Fusion hasn’t changed dramatically in the last few years, and that’s a good thing. The Fusion is in a highly competitive class of midsize sedans, but it continues to impress us with its comfortable interior, user-friendly tech and great driving dynamics.
The Ford SYNC 3 touch-screen infotainment 8-inch display features sharp, clear graphics, and it’s easy to see from the driver’s seat. The system responds to common smartphone-like gestures like swiping or pinching to zoom, and menus are easy to navigate. Physical controls on the dashboard are laid out in a simple pattern, and they’re easy to reach. SYNC 3 includes smartphone integration via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which allow you to access your phone’s apps, contacts, media, and messaging.
The 245-hp turbo-4 found in the upmarket Fusion Titanium has a quick-revving feel. It steps smartly off the line, and works well with the paddle-shifted version of the 6-speed automatic.
From the back, from the front, seen in profile, the Ford Fusion is as good-looking as family cars get. The stance and proportions remind us of expensive German machinery, the revamped front end of Ford’s past fling with Aston Martin.
The 2018 Ford Fusion is a feast for the senses, a rarity among family sedans.
